The staff will carry a device that can be activated in the event of an incident, which will allow the person to be located and monitored in real time and instantly.
When the device is activated, it sends an alert to the telephone number that is associated, either the control center or the staff on duty.
With this new tool, Ferrocarrils reaffirms its commitment to the safety of its workers by betting on new technologies.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) is carrying out a pilot test with the workers of the six ski and mountain resorts it manages to improve safety on the slopes through an innovative device that, when activated by the person, monitors their position in real time and immediately. This test, which is being carried out jointly with Caser, is the result of the collaboration agreement signed between the two parties with the aim of reinforcing safety for the teams of the FGC mountain resorts: La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll.
The gadget, called Snowfy, is a device designed to provide more efficient control of people in the event of an incident. In this way, its use allows the workers of the resorts, especially train drivers, snow production personnel, piste workers and maintenance staff, to activate it in the event of an incident, by shaking the device. This gesture directly activates an alarm signal on the mobile phone to which it is associated, whether it is the control center or the staff on duty.
During the months of January and February, training on this device was given to the staff of the mountain resorts of FGC Turisme. In total, a total of 162 people will wear this new device.
The president of FGC, Carles Ruiz Novella, explains that with this pilot test “we are reinforcing one of the elements that we take into account most in our workers: safety. And, in addition, we are doing this by betting on innovative systems that allow us to open the way and be at the forefront of new technologies applied to ski resorts, with the aim of being prepared to face the challenges of safety and efficiency that the management of modern mountain resorts demands”.
For Gloria López Raposo, Commercial Director of Prospecció at Caser, "this agreement is another step in our commitment to supporting snow sports and contributing to the development of technologies that make a difference in the experience for people who work in ski resorts and for skiers themselves".
