The resort is once again hosting the Sprint and Mixed Relay events on the World Cup circuit, positioning itself as a reference for the practice of ski mountaineering.
The Skimo events in Boí Taüll will be qualifying for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, where ski mountaineering will be an Olympic event for the first time. Oriol Cardona, Marta Garcia, Ot Ferrer, Laia Sellés, Marc Ràdua, Biel Pujol, Gael Álvarez and Maria Costa are the Catalan runners who will participate in the event.
Televisió de Catalunya will broadcast the competition live on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Boí Taüll resort will once again become this weekend, February 1st and 2nd, the official venue for two of the 2025 Ski Mountaineering World Cup events, Sprint and Mixed Relay. The competition is organized and approved by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF). 2025 is a key year in the calendar of this sports discipline since it is a pre-Olympic year where athletes have the opportunity to score decisive points towards their qualification for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Games, where ski mountaineering will be an Olympic event for the first time. The ISMF World Cup Skimo in Boí Taüll is one of the most outstanding events on the circuit and represents a fundamental moment on the road to the great Olympic event.
The Sports Minister, Berni Álvarez Merino, who presented the competition today together with the President of Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Carles Ruiz Novella, highlighted that the Mön Cup “is important for deterritorializing sporting events: that all of Catalonia can benefit from them under the parameters of sustainability, economic return and social return”. “From the Department of Sports we must bet on this type of event, together with Ferrocarrils because the mountain is a privileged place to host sporting events, always taking care of the territory from the point of view of sustainability. I am convinced that it will be a sporting success and we will celebrate good results from our representatives”, he added.
For the President of FGC “Boí Taüll is consolidating itself as a reference for hosting international competitions and it represents an important collective effort, from Ferrocarrils, the institutions of the Territory and the Generalitat itself to promote this type of event which what it does is increase the presence of the public and teams in a high-level competition”. He also highlighted the fact that there is “a very important presence of Catalan athletes with very high expectations of great results. Therefore, not only will it be a success for the public but we will also be accompanied by sporting successes”.
Televisió de Catalunya will broadcast the two days of competition live. On Saturday, the Sprint event will be held, which can be seen from 10:50 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on TV3 and the 3Cat platform. And on Sunday, the Mixed Relay event, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., also on TV3 and the 3Cat platform. The production of the competition will be, once again, in the hands of Televisió de Catalunya. Thanks to the work done so far and the collaboration between Ferrocarrils and the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation, the signal will reach the whole world.
