Thanks to the snowfall recorded since Saturday, December 7, the six Ferrocarrils tourist facilities will open slopes between Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th.
The accumulated snow depths at the six stations range between 20 and 60 cm of snow.
The resorts will work all week to open as many slopes as possible.
The six mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) – La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll – will open their ski areas on Friday 13 December and some will do so on the weekend of 14-15 December, thanks to the snowfall of the last few days, the forecast of more precipitation for Wednesday and Thursday and the low temperatures that will allow the production of snow continuously throughout the current week.
The snowfalls over the bank holiday weekend have left snow depths of up to 60 cm in some resorts, such as Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll. La Molina, Vallter and Vall de Núria, although affected by the wind in some areas, also have snow depths of around 20 cm.
Regarding the specific opening date, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé, Boí Taüll and La Molina will launch the slopes on Friday 13, while La Molina, Vallter and Vall de Núria will do so on Saturday 14. The forecast is to open the maximum number of routes and facilities possible, adapting to the weather conditions. The low temperatures and the forecast of new snowfalls will allow top-quality snow to be maintained, a fact that skiing and snowboarding lovers will undoubtedly appreciate.
Towards the end of the week, information will be updated with all the details about the status of the slopes opening through the web channels and social networks of the Imuntanya ski resorts.
For winter sports, this opening of the FGC TURISME resorts adds an important incentive to these operations that, since the Puríssima Bridge, had launched activities beyond snow such as amusement parks and restaurants.
